This album is Christ centered and a true example what Christian rap music should be. Simply awesome. It's hard to find Christian music without the secular friendly lyrics, UNTIL NOW. Perfect for workouts and teenagers & adults who enjoy rhyming lyrics.
Something I can work out to as well. I love it and I feel blessed that there is someone out there who can get the point across with a nice flow and great lyrics. I honestly didnt think there was such a thing as Gospel Hip Hop. I love Gospel but I yearned for the old hip hop sound that I was used to. Lately I have been trying to further my relationship with God from Lukewarm to on fire. I am a huge hip hop fan, TI, Jay-Z you name it. Something in my spirit just cant listen to some of the old money chasing, girl smashing, drug filled lyrics. Im so glad that I found this album.it is the best of every element I like but can also be uplifting.
Awesome. You cant go wrong with this album, you will be praising God a lot. This is Hot.
Rebel is just as mainstream sounding as other rappers but is 100% Christ centered. My favorite track is Don't Waste Your Life. I liked it so much I bought the album and the Rebel t-shirt. Lecrae's album Rebel is filled with talent and is a must have for Christian rap fans. If your a fan of Trip Lee, Json, Tedashii, Thisl, and Flame this album is for. If you didn't like the past 2 albums but are still interested in something different from Lecrae this is a recommended album.
This artistry is no more apparent than in his newest (and by far, best) offering to date, Rebel. The album opens up with an awesome track aptly named "Rebel Intro". The energy is maintained with the track "Don't Waste Your Life", and honest heart-felt appeal borrowed from the writings of John Piper to not waste your life on trivial pursuits, but to live life for the glory of God and for His renown.Lecrae continues the plea to be a rebel in this world with the driving "God Hard" and the incredibly transparent, humbling and self-effacing "Indwelling Sin", "Breathin' to Death" and "Desparate".
"Rebel" is worth the purchase cost and will be an encouragement to your soul. "The Bride" is an especially reassuring defense of the Church's identity as Christ's Bought Bride.
The album continues with application in "Change", "Fall Back", "Live Free" and "Got Paper".Rebel ends in great encouragement with the songs "I'm a Saint" (reminiscent of Derek Webb's "Saint and Sinner"), "The Bride" and "Beautiful Feet". Lecrae's creative ability in songcraft is simply stunning, especially so when one couples the craft of the songs to their theological soundness and biblical consistency.
Outside of the artists in the Square Peg Alliance, there is perhaps no musician today making better music or exhibiting more biblically edifying and encouraging music than Lecrae. This track sets the tune for the rest of the album with its direct statement that Jesus was a rebel, not because He was disobedient or rebellious per se, but because He was a "sanctified troublemaker" and obedient in perfection to the Father.
Christians take a lot of flak in the World, many times justifiably so, yet this song asks us to consider ourselves not primarily as sinners, but as sinners loved by Jesus. The whole album is worth a good long listen.
